Art Attack
Jewish young professionals (YPs) move to Cincinnati on a consistent basis for graduate school and jobs. Access, an initiative of The Mayerson Foundation wanted to find a way to welcome newcomers and get them connected to other Jewish YPs and the Jewish community. We were charged with coming up with events and marketing ideas that would attract this contingent. In addition to developing a special Newcomer’s Box with gifts, information and resources, we put on a yearly “Art Attack” party to help welcome all new Jewish YPs to the area. Each time it was held at a different local art gallery, and each invitation was unique.
In this case, instead of creating a standard invitation with a full-size cover, we designed it so that only 1/3 of the invitation had a fold over, giving the piece a cool and artful feel to match the theme of the event. We kept to a black, white and primary colored palate and turned the cover art sideways to add an additional artsy element. These invitations sent the message that Access events were sophisticated but not intimidating. They were responsible for helping to engage hundreds of newcomers who went on to be active participants in Access programs and other Jewish community offerings over the years!
